Set your DVRs because there are plenty of TV shows to start watching tonight. Several of favorites are returning, and a few new shows are premiering, as well.

At 8 p.m. EDT, “Survivor: Blood Vs. Water” will have its 29th season premiere on CBS. The 90-minute premiere will bring in teams of people who are close (siblings, significant others, parents) -- but they won’t be working together. They’ll have to compete against each other to win the reality show's 2014 season.

If you’re looking for drama that’s a little more scripted, “The Mysteries Of Laura” will premiere in its regular timeslot at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC (a sneak peek aired on Sept. 17). “Will & Grace” alum Debra Messing stars in this drama about a NYPD homicide detective struggling to balance her job with her home life. She’s the mother of rambunctious twins and she’s in the middle of a divorce -- but it’s hard to avoid her husband when he is also a NYPD cop.

At 9 p.m. EDT, “Law & Order: SVU” Season 16 will premiere on NBC. The episode will feature the detectives investigating a prostitution ring. They’re hoping it will bring them closer to finding Ellie Porter’s (Emma Greenwell) killer, but it might just put them all in danger. Even baby Noah won’t be safe. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will receive several threats towards her new baby in the premiere, E Online reported.

Two juicy dramas are premiering at 10 p.m. EDT. “Nashville” Season 3 will return to ABC, and Rayna (Connie Britton) will make her final choice between Luke (Will Chase) and Deacon (Chip Esten). Plus, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) is going to be auditioning for a new Patsy Cline biopic. For a drama that’s a little more deadly, “Chicago PD” Season 2 will be premiering on NBC. There will be some tension in the office as Internal Affairs keeps a close eye on Voight (Jason Beghe), but he might need them there after a car wreck. Meanwhile, Lindsay (Sophia Bush) will have her hands full with personal issues as she visits her estranged mother.

There are plenty of comedies premiering as well. ABC will premiere their comedy line up, which includes the “Modern Family” Season 6 premiere. When Alex (Ariel Winter) returns from her humanitarian trip, the mood in the house changes. Gloria (Sofia Vergara) will be going through some of her own changes as she tries to teach Jay (Ed O’Neill) what it’s like to have a partner who doesn’t put effort into their physical appearance.
