Producer prices (QoQ) in Australia declined 0.4% in the fourth quarter of 2009, after it rose 0.1% in the previous quarter, while it was forecasted to remain at the same prior level. The PPI slipped 1.5% in 4Q from a year earlier following an incline by 0.2%, while forecasts referred to -0.9%.

Inflation probably slowed in the fourth quarter, so monetary policy makers might not be pressured to raise interest rates for the fourth straight month, after deciding to raise them 0.25% in December to 3.75%.
