“Fallout 4” PS4 mod problems remain a mystery, and Bethesda marketing VP Pete Hines has continued to field questions about the problem from ravenous fans. Unfortunately, the developer’s air of silence has continued.

Taking to Twitter just hours ago, Hines said “I don’t have any new info on an update,” adding that “when I do I will share it with everyone.” Moments later, he reiterated that sentiment by telling another follower that “I have no new info” about when mods will arrive on “Fallout 4’s” PS4 edition.

Given the short timespan between responses, the feature seems to be something that Hines is constantly being asked about. In fact, just last week, Hines said there is nothing new to share on the matter. As it stands now, mod support on PS4 is still being evaluated in collaboration between Bethesda and Sony. Hines said that the developer cannot release any update on the puzzling situation until every lingering issue has been ironed out.

“Fallout 4” console mods have existed on Xbox One for quite some time, and it was originally thought that the feature would be available on PS4 by the end of June. Interviews with the game’s producers at E3 2016 revealed that disagreements concerning licensing and file size were keeping the project from coming to fruition. Shortly after these shortcomings were made known, “Fallout 4” mods on Sony’s console were delayed indefinitely.

With that questionable history established, it remains to be seen precisely when, or even if, modding will be allowed for Bethesda games on PS4. During E3, it was publicly stated that the console versions of “Skyrim Special Edition” would feature mods across PlayStation and Xbox. As that game’s October release date approaches, we’ll see if this clearly fractured relationship has any impact on that previous promise.

“Fallout 4” is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Mods, however, are only currently supported across the latter two platforms.
