Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy. Having built a career on being a brand, her image is the most important part of being a successful businesswoman. But the reality star won the ire of the internet Wednesday after posting a tweet about her newest diet plan: the flu.

With the Met Gala on the horizon, Kardashian apparently had her eye on the scale ahead of one of fashion’s biggest events. In a since-deleted tweet, she said she’d lost six pounds following a bout with the flu.

“The flu can be an amazing diet,” Kardashian tweeted. “So happy it came in time for the Met lol #6lbsdown.”

Her followers were quick to point out that influenza can be a potentially deadly illness, a fact that may have had a hand in her decision to delete the tweet.

However, her followers were also quick to make light-hearted connections to a popular scene from “The Devil Wears Prada” in which Emily Blunt’s character says, “I’m one stomach flu away from my goal weight.”

Kardashian has been increasingly candid on her social media accounts after taking a hiatus from her public life following her Paris robbery in 2016. She opened up about the incident publicly for the first time during an episode of her reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
