Avid fans of the action star have been hoping to see Johnson’s Hobbs’ play an active role in the upcoming “Fast 8” film. His character had a limited screen time in the seventh installment of the “Fast and Furious” movie. This was due to scheduling conflicts that the actor had at that time.

For the upcoming movie, The Rock appears to be in the center of action alongside stars such as Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell and Jason Statham. This would also be the first “Fast and Furious” movie following the death of Paul Walker.

Cast member Gibson shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the 2016 BET Awards on Sunday that it was difficult filming “Fast 8” without the late actor. Gibson commented that he found it “rough” every time that he needs to get out of the trailer. He explained that Walker’s trailer was previously placed next to his trailer.

The actor shared that he and the movie’s cast and crew members “feel [Walker’s] energy every day.” Gibson also stated that it was “not easy moving forward” without the late actor.

Meanwhile, fans can soon witness the movie’s amazing car chases and action sequences that involve Gibson, Johnson and other cast members. “Fast 8” has been slated for release on April 14, 2017.
