Fear the Walking Dead
“Fear the Walking Dead” will return in April to show the continued adventures of Travis (Cliff Curtis, left) and Daniel (Ruben Blades). Recently, a new teaser of the second season was released. AMC

Although all eyes are on the highly anticipated Season 6 return of “The Walking Dead,” zombie fans are also looking ahead to Season 2 of AMC’s companion series, “Fear the Walking Dead.” The record-breaking show will return April 10 and to get people excited, the network released an international teaser trailer complete with a wink at its very popular web series.

The new teaser was clearly created to air in Spanish-speaking countries. As a result, the teaser isn’t available yet through any of AMC’s U.S. social media accounts. Instead, fans can view it via Spoiler TV below. The brief Season 2 trailer begins as a sizzle reel showing the principal cast of Season 1, including Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), Nick Clark (Frank Dillane), Chris Manawa (Lorenzo James Henrie), Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis), Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades), Ofelia Salazar (Mercedes Mason) and Victor Strand (Colman Domingo).

After showing flashes of the cast and some of their most exciting moments, the trailer teases life on the water with a big sprawling shot of the open ocean. Before the video concludes, the picturesque aquatic landscape is interrupted by the shadow of a commercial airplane overhead.

The water is an obvious reference to the Season 1 cliffhanger, which saw the mysterious Strand reveal that he’s got a private luxury yacht off the coast of Los Angeles. So it appears clear Season 2 will find the main cast adapting to the apocalypse by riding it out on the water. As for the airplane, that’s a more overt reference to the spinoff’s web series: “Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462.”

Fans of “The Walking Dead” may have noticed small snippets of a larger story being told during Season 6 commercial breaks. AMC previously announced it will give 16 parts of the story their debuts online and during ads, eventually equating to a full 30-minute story. When it’s over, one surviving member of “Flight 462” will join the cast of “Fear the Walking Dead” in Season 2. So far, eight of the planned installments of the web series have been released with more to come when “The Walking Dead” returns Feb. 14.

Other than its setting on the high seas, little is known about what’s in store during Season 2 of “Fear the Walking Dead.” Previously, Curtis told Access Hollywood that the biggest thing he’s looking forward to is getting to know more about Mr. Strand. The character came into play during the final moments of Season 1 and seems to have an endless supply of wit and resources at his disposal.

“[That’s] the funnest character on the show, right now,” Curtis said. “It feels like he’s from a different world and I think, entertainmentwise, I think that’s fantastic, and I’m really, really looking forward to seeing how he develops.”
