Ready to venture back into the world of the dead? “Fear the Walking Dead” returns to AMC this Sunday to finish up its second season. The show went on hiatus in late May, and has four more episodes before the second installment concludes.

Check out 5 things to look forward to in the final Season 2 episodes of the companion series to “The Walking Dead”:

Where The Show Will Pick Up:

Episode 8 is titled “Grotesque” and will follow Nick (Frank Dillane) as he ventures out on his own in the “deadly dog-eat-dog landscape.” So far he’s been flourishing in the zombie apocalypse, but can he survive without his family? That will be the question as he stumbles across other humans.

The episode will also reveal more about Nick’s past. The only thing that viewers know about him is that he had a heroin addiction and a complicated relationship with his mother.

New Characters:
The first half of Season 2 killed off a couple of characters, but the second half will introduce some new ones. Actress Danay Garcia joins the series as Luciana, a survivor that Nick meets. Luciana is said to be similar to Nick in that she’s an “orphan by choice.” However, she’s also described as a strong soldier.

A Changed Alicia:
Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) has so far acted like an innocent teenager on the series. But don’t expect her to remain that way heading into the second half of Season 2. Showrunner Dave Erickson revealed in TVLine in June that the character will be changing.

“We’ll see a woman who really comes of age and hopefully regains her connection with her mother and steps into more of an adult role.”

A Different Madison:

Everyone has had to deal with death so far in “Fear the Walking Dead,” but Madison (Kim Dickens) has been spared. Instead she suffered a different kind of loss in the midseason finale when her son, Nick, and boyfriend, Travis, decided to go off on their own. According to Dickens, this will take a toll on her in the upcoming episodes.

“She’s kind of messed up when we first come back,” the actress told Entertainment Tonight while at San Diego Comic-Con last month. “She’s kind of distraught and very unmoored, but she doesn’t give up hope. She’s frantically searching for them.”

A New Way Of Thinking:

“Fear the Walking Dead” viewers learned that Celia (Marlene Forte) and the others at the compound still treasured the dead, even though they were turned into walkers. The second half of Season 2 will continue to explore different beliefs and ways of looking at the dead. Showrunner Dave Erickson explained to Entertainment Weekly that some of the new characters introduced will have their own “mindset and their own philosophy.”

“There are some darker secrets that go with it,” he continued. “But they’re very much comfortable with the dead.”

“Fear the Walking Dead” Returns to AMC with episode 8 on Sunday, August 21 at 9 p.m. EDT.
