Madison and Walker continue to look for water in Season 3, episode 11 of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead.”

According to the synopsis for the next episode, Madison (Kim Dickens) and Walker (Michael Greyeyes), with the help of Strand (Colman Domingo), launch a mission to replenish Broke Jaw Ranch’s dwindling water supply by seeking the help of another community.

At the end of Season 3, episode 10, Madison used Walker’s gold to pay off Strand’s debt to the bazaar’s proctor, and in return, Strand agreed to bring Madison and Walker to the dam near Tijuana. Apparently, the journey to the dam won’t be easy.

In a sneak peek from the episode, Madison, Walker and Strand have to go through a sewer tunnel in order to get to the dam.

“There’s gotta be a better way,” Walker tells Madison as Strand removes the sewer cover.

“If there was, Strand would take it. He’s not the sewer tunnel type,” Madison replies.

As seen in the promo for the episode, the trio have to fight off zombies in the tunnel. Their biggest problem, however, is Daniel (Rubén Blades), who’s waiting for their arrival at the other end of the underground passage.

“The last time [Strand] saw Daniel, Daniel left him to die. So I don’t think he’s necessarily thinking that he would be welcome, were he to return [to the dam],” showrunner Dave Erickson told TVLine. “Even when he finds out that Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) is still alive, there’s still a danger there. Strand has witnessed a side of Daniel now that even Madison hasn’t seen. She knows that he’s capable of torture, but Strand stood there at the dam and watched as Daniel took down three people in this very John Wick fashion. So I think he’s scared… and wants to see the playing field before he commits to anything. He doesn’t know if Daniel’s first reaction [to seeing him again] will be a bullet in his head.”

While Daniel doesn’t trust Strand, the former does “trust Madison to a degree,” Erickson noted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “[So] what you end up seeing is this process, this bargaining, where Ofelia really becomes a chip in that process. You have Madison, who is desperate for water, and now she has the fate of that reunion — whether father will be reunited with daughter is up to her.”

“Fear the Walking Dead” Season 3, episode 11, titled “La Serpiente,” airs on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
