Madison (Kim Dickens) and Strand (Colman Domingo) are reunited in the new promo for Season 3B of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead.”

In the 30-second clip, Strand reveals to Madison that the apocalypse is global. “This is everywhere. The whole world is lost,” the former businessman tells the mother of two, whom he last saw in the Season 2 finale. While the video doesn’t show Madison’s reaction to the news, it’s likely that the new information will further motivate her to keep Broke Jaw Ranch safe and sustainable.

The recently released promo also reveals that people in the ranch are going to suffer from water shortage — a problem that will seemingly cause more tension between the original ranch residents and Walker’s (Michael Greyeyes) group.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last July, showrunner Dave Erickson pointed out that the drought had actually been foreshadowed earlier in the season.

“There’s a slight hint of it in the first half of this season, a scene with Jake (Sam Underwood) and Otto (Dayton Callie) where Jake wants to give the bottled water reserves to the Nation (Walker’s group) as a peace offering, and Otto suggests that that’s a bad idea,” Erickson said. “We allude to the fact that it hasn’t rained in a while, even though it rained a lot [on set].”

Clearly, the dire water situation in Broke Jaw Ranch will connect this season’s two separate storylines — the ranch and the dam — together. “The idea of water and water as the true currency will be very important in the back half of the season,” Erickson said. “The goal has always been to take these two narratives — one north of the border and one south — and ultimately conflate them. We wanted, in a slow burn way, to blend our characters back together, so hopefully there will be some episodes of reuniting when we get to the back half.”

In related news, TV Guide recently revealed that Season 3B will start with Alicia (Alicia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane) not trusting their mom anymore. Madison will also find her daughter siding with Jake more and more.

“Fear the Walking Dead” Season 3B premieres on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC.
