Two merging Russian fertilizer producers, Uralkali and Silvinit, have aceded to a government request to freeze prices for farmers for two years, Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) head Igor Artemyev said on Wednesday.

A decision was taken that potash fertilizer prices for farmers will not increase in line with the world price growth. The companies agreed with it, Artemyev said, adding prices would be adjusted for inflation.

Uralkali is one of Russia's leading potash producers, while Silvinit is the country's top potash fertilizer maker.
