“Fifty Shades of Grey” fans have a little less than a year to wait for the franchise’s next installment to hit theaters, but to get a sneak peek of the "Fifty Shades Darker" sequel, they need only check social media. The cast of the highly anticipated romance film was spotted on set in Vancouver on Thursday filming an iconic scene from author E.L. James' work.
Images of Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) sharing a steamy kiss in a dark alley have been released. Video from the shoot shows Dornan cornering Johnson against a brick wall and passionately kissing her.
The cast filmed at Yaletown’s Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre, YVRShoots reports. The location is serving as The Port Gallery, where Ana’s friend Jose (Victor Rasuk) showcases his photography. “Last night we shot the famous photo gallery scene from '50 Shades Darker,'” Rasuk confirmed on Instagram. “Someone bought all of my photos! Fans, who was it?”
In the book, Ana attends the art show with Christian, her ex BDSM partner, after he offers her a ride. During the showing it is revealed that a majority of Jose’s pieces are portraits of Ana, which upsets the billionaire businessman. After leaving the show Christian corners Ana and kisses her, telling her she belongs to him alone. The two later share a meal and agree to work out their differences in their relationship.
Thursday’s scene isn’t the first time Dornan and Johnson have been spotted sharing a kiss on the Vancouver set. Earlier this month, the two were photographed kissing in the rain under a shared umbrella.
While James hasn’t shared any details about Thursday night’s shoot, she did share a photo of herself posing with a few of the movie’s crew members behind the scenes. The picture, which she posted to Instagram, shows her posing next to Paul Barry, the movie’s first assistant director, and John Scwartzman, the director of photography.
“Fifty Shades Darker” will continue Ana and Christian’s love story while also welcoming a new cast of characters. Christian’s former partner Elena Lincoln/Mrs. Robinson will be played by Kim Basinger. Actress Bella Heathcote has signed on to play Christian’s mentally unstable former submissive Leila Williams.
“Fifty Shades Darker” is due to shoot in Vancouver through July. The movie will also film several scenes in Paris. “Darker” premieres in theaters Feb. 10, 2017. The third and final installment, “Fifty Shades Freed,” is scheduled to debut in February 2018.
