‘Fifty Shades Freed’ Movie: Everything We Know So Far, Including That Steamy Post-Credits Trailer

“Fifty Shades Darker” only just released in theaters, but fans of E.L. James’ erotica series are already counting down the days until the next movie. There’s less than a year until “Fifty Shades Freed,” the third and final film, premieres, but we already have several hints about what the movie will entail.

If you’ve read James’ book series, you’ll know Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) tie the knot in the third book before jetting off on their European honeymoon. Their happily ever after is cut short by a threat from Christian’s past who returns for revenge.

TRAILER

Universal Pictures hasn’t released a feature length trailer for “Fifty Shades Freed” just yet but they did tease moviegoers with a sneak peek. A post-credits scene in “Darker” showed Ana in her wedding dress as Christian recites his vows. There are also a few, brief flashes of the couple enjoying their honeymoon.

STYLE

Director James Foley shot “Darker” and “Freed” simultaneously, but he’s made it clear both films have their own styles. “At the end of ‘Darker,’ in the tail credits, there’s a little teaser, and just when it comes up, to my eyes it looks like a totally different movie and a totally different reality. And that just came out of subtle changes in style and in the photography, and [‘Freed’] will hopefully have a reality of its own,” he told The Hollywood Reporter Sunday.

SCREENPLAY

Like “Darker,” the script for “Freed” was penned by James’ husband Niall Leonard. Expect a similar adaptation for the final movie.

JAMIE’S SOLO

According to a report from the UK’s The Mirror, Dornan will show off his singing chops in the third film. “He’s an incredibly good singer – he sang a lot on set,” Foley said. “He sings in three but it’s a surprise.”

CAST

There will be a few new faces in “Freed.” Fresh off a life-threatening encounter with one of Christian’s former submissives, Ana will get a personal bodyguard in actor Tyler Hoechlin, who portrays Boyce Fox. Another security force, Sawyer, will be played by Brant Daugherty. Fans can also anticipate seeing Ana and Christian’s home architect in the film. Actress Arielle Kebbel takes on the role of Gia Matteo.

It won’t be all new faces, though. Rita Ora, Eric Johnson, Luke Grimes are just some of the returning cast members.

SCENES

Fan photos from the set previously revealed what sequences are coming in “Freed.” In July 2016, Jamie and Dakota were spotted filming a scene which showed them leaning over a balcony at the Louvre in Paris. Several day prior, they were also seen filming a sunbathing scene, which was displayed in the sneak peek, at a beach in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France.

“Fifty Shades Freed” hits theaters in February 2018.
