The “Fifty Shades of Grey” book trilogy has millions of fans worldwide, but model Chrissy Teigen is definitely not one of them. The 28-year-old Sports Illustrated cover model gained negative attention on social media this week after bashing the best-selling erotica novel, calling it "horrendous."

Teigen, who first informed her followers on Twitter last week that she had purchased the E.L. James book to read over her holiday vacation, ticked off fans of the series after posting her distaste for the romance story just hours later. “Annnnd I’m done 2 pages in. Thank you for enjoying mystery science library,” posted Teigen, alongside an image of the series’ first book, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” half concealed in sand. "I have an extremely high pain tolerance. But I honestly don't think I can do this. This book is f---ing horrendous," she later posted.

“Entire 1st page dedicated to hair brushing. ‘Must not brush it wet.’ ‘Time for ponytail.’ Wow, compelling stuff here,” said Teigen. The model ended her rant by posting an image of herself burying the book in the sand with the caption, “I tried.”

While a fair share of Teigen’s fans supported her opinion, many others slammed the model for sharing her negative review. “@chrissyteigen You are a stupid witch. It’s a love story and if you’d bother to read the rest of the triology you would get it,” tweeted user Susan Marzalek Tuesday. “You are so ignorant, it’s a great love story! No need to trash something if it’s not of your liking,” posted user @Kenia_Muniz, a response which Teigen retweeted on her official Twitter account Monday.

Following her attack on the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise, Teigen addressed her comments again Saturday, saying, “Think I’m just going to wake up every morning and switch my first tweets between ‘I was hacked’ and ‘I’m sorry for my poor choice of words.’”

Teigen last caused controversy on Christmas Day for posting a video on Instagram of her husband, singer John Legend, pretending to choke her. According to the UK’s Independent, Teigen started the now-deleted clip by wishing her fans a “Merry Christmas” before the 35-year-old “Ordinary People” performer could be seen assaulting her followed by the model responding with a resounding plea for help.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” was released in 2011 and followed by two sequels, “Fifty Shades Darker” later that year, and “Fifty Shades Freed” in 2012. Universal is currently filming the best-selling novel for the big screen. The film will star “Once Upon a Time” actor Jamie Dornan as BDSM-loving billionaire Christian Grey. Former “Ben and Kate” sitcom star Dakota Johnson will play sexually inexperienced college graduate Anastasia “Ana” Steele.
