Ian Somerhalder opens up this week about the “Fifty Shades Of Grey" casting, to Mr Porter, an online men’s fashion site.

The former model and current “Vampire Diaries” star has long been seen as the perfect Christian Grey because of his smoldering eyes and charming good looks.

“Oh man, there's nothing official," Somerhalder said, when asked about whether he would be filling the major role. "It's just talk."

When asked if he was preparing for the role, just in case, Somerhalder responded: "Yeah, there's a website you can go to where you can just outfit your basement as a dungeon. So, you know, I thought I'd get prepared, just in case."

Of course, the actor was joking, but there is still hope that Somerhalder may be the star of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, as no one has officially been named for any of the roles.

Asked if he is turning his basement into a dungeon, Somerhalder grinned and replied, "Totally. I think a lot of people are doing that right now!"

“Harry Potter” star, Emma Watson, who has been rumored to play Anastasia Steele, told STV.TV, "I haven't fully read the book just yet, so I don't know what I'd be signing myself up for. So I would have to get sent a script I guess. But it always flattering that people are thinking about you for certain casting roles. You are in the mix for things like '50 Shades' so it's great.”

According to fellow actress, Nina Dobrev, who is also Somerhalder’s real-life girlfriend and co-star on “Vampire Diaries,” Watson would be “far more interested if Ryan Gosling were to be cast as Christian Grey.”

Television producer Ryan Seacrest even tweeted: @EmWatson told me that she'd be more interested in playing Ana in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie if Ryan Gosling were to be Christian. #mugglelove.”

It remains to be seen who will be officially cast in the film, but there are certainly numerous great actors in the running.
