Clemson and West Virginia battled in the first game of the second round

Three enormous steals by forward Dalton Pepper inside the last two minutes helped seal the 84-76 victory for fifth-seed West Virginia over 12th-seed Clemson at St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida.

West Virginia was leading 76-71 when Pepper worked his magic.

On three consecutive plays, Pepper stole the ball, and took it up the court, and scored twice, to extend the Mountaineer lead.

The Mountaineers were led by forward Kevin Jones who scored 17 and added 9 rebounds.

West Virginia led by as much as 12 in the second half, but had some first-half struggles. Clemson led by 10 points in the early part of the first half.

The Tigers were led by guard Andre Young who scored 22 points.

West Virginia await the winner of Kentucky-Princeton.
