Original post: The delivery of the top spire for One World Trade Center is scheduled for Thursday. The delivery was previously scheduled earlier for Monday, but high winds and bad weather delayed the raising.

While the delivery of the spire will take place Thursday, weather permitting, the final parts of the spire won’t actually be installed until later.

Coincidentally, today is the second anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden, mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. He was killed in a U.S. covert raid two years ago in a compound in Pakistan.

When completed, One World Trade Center will reach the height of 1,776 feet, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
