Facebook is finalizing its new app that will work on Apple's iPad according to New York Times.

The No.1 social networking will will introduce its official app within few weeks. Facebook is testing the apps and it's in the final stage of optimizing it for the iPad, the Times said.

According to those who have seen the app, it has a slick design that has been tailored for the iPad and its touchscreen interface.

Insider sources says the app enables users read and post on Facebook, participate in Facebook chats, as well upload photos and video.

Facebook's decision to produce an app is remarkable since the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg said in November last year that he is not interested in making a native app for the iPad.

The company is also working on the site to improve the compatibility of the website with iPad.
