When viewers last saw Carter (Kathryn Prescott) on the Season 1 finale of “Finding Carter” she was drugged and once again, taken away by her childhood kidnapper and former “mom” Lori (Milena Govich). Ahead of the show’s Season 2 premiere, MTV has released the first eight minutes of episode 1.

The Season 2 opener, titled “Love the Way You Lie,” kicks off with Carter remembering the first time she was kidnapped by Lori at age 3. While in a dream-like, Carter recalls Lori luring her away from her real family by suggesting a “secret” game of “pretend.” Carter then wakes up in a motel room to find Lori with a gun in her possession and speaking to unknown individual on the phone.

“I’ve got it under control. You knew eventually the truth has to come out,” Lori says. “It’s too late to turn back down.”

Meanwhile Carter’s friends sit with Max (Alex Saxon) — who is still recovering from a gunshot wound delivered by Carter’s troubled boyfriend in Season 1 — in the hospital. The gang tunes into the news hoping to see a report on Carter’s kidnapping, but find nothing. When Carter’s twin sister Taylor (Anna Jacoby-Heron) enters the room she announces that there is a media blackout and that her mom Elizabeth (Cynthia Watros) has yet to hear from Carter.

Despite being the catalyst for their break up last season, Max tells Taylor he is happy she decided to be with him instead of her family during Carter’s absence and reveals he regrets their split.

“I made a really big mistake breaking us up,” he says. “I was going through a lot… but I don’t want to be apart. We had a really great thing going and I think we should have it again now.”

After Taylor accepts Max’s apology, she reveals she is afraid Lori might hurt Carter. While Max admits he was surprised by Lori’s decision to kidnap Carter a second time, he shares his belief that Carter will not be harmed.

Back at Carter’s family home, Elizabeth, who viewers will remember is a police detective, reveals she has been pulled from helping solve her daughter's kidnapping case. After Elizabeth breaks down in tears, her husband David (Alexis Denisof) tells her that Carter will eventually come home.

“I can’t lose our baby again,” she says.

“It’s going to be okay, I promise,” David replies.

While the family attempts to keep it together in their family member's absence, Carter remains in Lori’s clutches. Despite knowing full-well that Lori drugged her and kidnapped her for a second time, Carter complies with her former mom to leave the motel. However, when Lori reveals her evil plan to kidnap Taylor next, Carter goes on the run.
