RTTNews - Thursday, the Statistics Finland said in a report that wages and salaries sum grew 1.8% year-over-year in the January to March period, slower than the 8.1% increase in the corresponding period of the previous year.

In March, wages and salaries were down 0.8% over a year ago.

The growth in the wages and salaries sum slowed down in almost all main industries in the first quarter of the year, the satistical office said. The wages and salaries sum in private educational sector rose 7.8%, while the public sector wages and salaries grew 7.5%. Manufacturing wages and salaries sum dropped 6.1%.
