Wednesday, a report by Statistics Finland said the turnover in the service industries grew 1.6% year-on-year in the November to January period, slowing from a 7.6% growth in the previous three-month period.

During the period, the art, entertainment and recreation sector showed the biggest growth in turnover, at 8.9%. This was followed by real estate activities, which grew 7%. On the other hand, the accommodation and food service activities showed the smallest growth, at 2.3%. The transport and storage sector was the only sector to show a decline, by 3.4% in this period.

In January, the service sector turnover declined 3.2% compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, the turnover in the construction sector fell 2.7% year-on-year in the November to January period. Sales volume of construction enterprises dropped 6.1%, but the volume rose 6.6% for civil engineering enterprises.

In January, the construction turnover dropped 12.5% from last year.
