Wednesday, a report by Statistics Finland said the general government's EMU debt grew by EUR 6.4 billion to EUR 62.14 billion in the fourth quarter from EUR 55.72 billion in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter of the previous year, the debt stood at EUR 63.03 billion.

The statistical office said the general government debt increase was mainly due to a growth in the central government debt.
