Firefighters have managed to contain a fire that was raging in Fire Island Pines since Monday.

All contained, Bo Fridsberg of the Fire Island Pines Fire Department wrote in an e-mail to the International Business Times.

The fire has caused no injuries and fire officials are still unaware of what started the fire that broke out since 9:15 p.m. on Monday. The fast-moving fire has destroyed several businesses and at least two private homes, authorities have told the media.

The Associated Press has reported that two large structures that house nightclubs and restaurants were still on fire shortly before noon on Tuesday.

Fridsberg said both buildings have been demolished and that there is still lots of overhaul to be done.

Embers from the fire also set two homes ablaze.

Some 300 firefighters from 31 departments responded to the blaze, which is said to be the largest response to a fire on Long Island since the Sunrise Fire burned thousands of acres of pine barrens in 1995, according to Fire Island's The News.

Fire Island Pines is one of many communities dotting the vacation hotspot south of Long Island. The properties in the area are reportedly owned by Andrew Kirtzman along with Seth Weissman and Matthew Blesso.

Kirtzman release updates on the fire on Facebook noting that it was a difficult night for all of them, but that they Feel blessed that no one was injured, and proud to be part of this beautiful community.
