The Flash” returned to the CW on Tuesday. The hit superhero series found Barry (Grant Gustin) shifting his priorities in the midseason premiere, wanting to train for the return of Reverse Flash instead of helping the police fight crime. That decision would lead to some drama in episode 10, “Revenge of the Rogues.”

The episode began with Barry training with Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) and the rest of the S.T.A.R. Labs team, racing drone missiles and even catching one to throw it back.

Elsewhere, Leonard Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) teamed up to draw out the Flash for some fun. Captain Cold had a plan to take the superhero down, but Barry did not take the bait.

Later, the two villains plotted to steal an extremely valuable painting from a wealthy couple. However, Wells wanted Barry to lay off Captain Cold in the hope the bad guy would just back down if not provoked. Plus, he wanted Barry to focus on his training.

Speaking of cold, things were still pretty icy between Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) after his confession of love and her decision to move in with Eddie (Rick Cosnett). Things would also get cold between Barry and Joe (Jesse Martin) after Barry told the detective that he would not help him with Captain Cold in order to keep training for his next confrontation with Reverse Flash.

Back at the police station, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) debuted new freeze-repellent shields to help the cops take out Captain Cold. Meanwhile, Joe was a bit resentful of Dr. Wells encouraging Barry not to help with the villain.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) gave Barry some advice about Iris, but the bigger revelation came when he realized that "FIRESTORM" – the last thing her meta-human fiancé said to her in the midseason finale – was actually an acronym for a project designed to breakdown and change atoms into new elements.

That night, Captain Cold and Heat Wave made their move on the painting. The cops’ new shields helped them against Captain Cold, but they were not ready for Heat Wave and some of the police were badly injured. The criminal duo got away with painting, but Captain Cold still wanted his fight with the Flash. After seeing cops get hurt, Barry, to Joe’s relief, decided to start fighting crime again.

Caitlin went to see a scientist from Mercury Labs, Jason Rusch (Luc Roderique), about "FIRESTORM" and he revealed that the military had shut down their research after their head scientist disappeared.

At S.T.A.R. Labs, Wells and Cisco figured out that if Barry could get Captain Cold and Heat Wave to cross the beams of their weapons they would disable each other. The solution came just in time as the duo had kidnapped Caitlin to draw out the Flash. Barry, donning his costume again, met Captain Cold and Heat Wave out in the open for the police and cameras to see, finally exposing the superhero to the public.

While Barry fought Captain Cold and Heat Wave, Joe and Cisco tracked down Caitlin. Cisco set off the booby trap Captain Cold had left for them, but Jesse was able to get her out of the way before the explosion.

Back on the streets, Barry was taking a beating, but before Captain Cold could deal a final deadly blow, Eddie jumped in front of him with one of Cisco’s shields. Then, by going slow instead of fast, Barry was able to get the two guns’ blasts to cross, dismantling them, and knocking out the two foes. Barry’s victory changed the minds’ of the formerly skeptical police, who now saw the Flash as a hero.

The next day, after everything settled down, Barry made up with Iris as she finished moving out. They resolved to be best friends again, even if it was clear Barry was hurting on the inside. After Iris left, Joe and Barry decided that Barry moving back in might soothe both of their loneliness.

However, there was more excitement in the last scene of the episode. Captain Cold and Heat Wave were in a truck on their way to prison when Captain Cold mysteriously told Heat Wave that with the Flash’s existence now public knowledge, things were still going according to his plan. Heat Wave was skeptical, but, as if on cue, someone crashed the truck and freed the two criminals. Captain Cold greeted the unseen character as “Sis.” It seems fans will see more of the Snart's.
