The future is here. “The Flash” fans saw a future version of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) wearing a red suit with a white emblem in Season 1. It looks like the present-day Barry is embracing the change. The new suit will make its debut in “The Flash” Season 2.

While this is a departure from the original costume on the CW show, it actually brings the character closer to his comic book costume, as Collider points out. Last season’s suit was already fairly close to the traditional red suit, but The Flash’s iconic costume in DC comic books has the white circle as well.

Barry’s costume change isn’t quite as different as his friend Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) new getup on “Arrow.” While the Green Arrow’s new uniform changed structurally, The Flash’s costume stayed mostly the same. While their suits don’t have much in common, they share a designer, Maya Mani, Variety reports.

On the show, Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) will be considered the designer of the new costume. The tech wizard will probably install some hardware upgrades with the new duds as well. The last suit had communications devices, a camera and sensors for the team to monitor Barry with. Surely, Cisco will add a few more high-tech embellishments with the new suit.

Barry will have more to worry about than a costume change in “The Flash” Season 2. He’ll be up against even tougher villains. He’ll meet Captain Cold’s father, the Atom Smasher (Adam “Edge” Copeland), but he won’t feel too fatherly towards the Scarlet Speedster.

“One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash,” the CW revealed to ComicBook.com. “His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him.”

“The Flash” Season 2 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
