The trailer for Season 3, episode 18 of “The Flash” teases Barry’s (Grant Gustin) first meeting with Abra Kadabra (David Dastmalchian), who claims to know Savitar’s (Andre Tricoteux) true identity. The CW

Barry (Grant Gustin) finally meets someone who knows who Savitar (Andre Tricoteux) really is.

In the trailer for Season 3, episode 18 of “The Flash,” Barry comes face-to-face with Abra Kadabra (David Dastmalchian), a villain from Earth-19 who claims to know information about the villainous speedster that could help the team stop Iris’ (Candice Patton) impending death. As Gyspy (Jessica Camacho) reveals in the promo video, Abra Kadabra — just like Savitar — is from the future, from the 64th century to be exact.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Abra Kadabra tells Barry that he is willing to reveal Savitar’s true identity if he releases him from captivity. Desperate to save Iris, Barry considers taking the deal, but Gypsy travels from Earth-19 to Earth-1 to capture Abra Kadabra for her own reasons.

During a fight, Abra Kadabra manages to escape. Barry is angry with Gypsy for disrupting his plans, but Gypsy refuses to abandon her own mission, forcing Cisco to take sides.

“He knows who Savitar is,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Abra Kadabra, whose arrival comes with a moral conundrum. “Do Barry and the team let Abra Kadabra go in order to get Savitar’s identity? It’s a great mortality play. Iris and Barry have a great scene, ‘Can you be a hero if you do one bad thing?’”

Meanwhile, Julian (Tom Felton) is still a bit cold towards Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), but when she is severely injured in a battle with Gypsy, he rushes to her side to help the team save her from danger.

In the comics, Abra Kadabra is a magician from the 64th century who travels back to the present only to find himself repetitively at odds with the Scarlet Speedster. While Abra Kadabra is a stage magician, the “magic” he uses to impress his audiences and fight The Flash is actually 64th century tech. Although he has no actual magical powers, there’s one notable storyline in the comics where he temporarily gains powers through a deal he made with the Green Lantern villain Neron.

Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, Abra Kadabra first appeared in “The Flash” #128 back in 1962.

“The Flash” Season 3, episode 18, titled “Abra Kadabra,” airs on Tuesday, March 28 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Watch the trailer below:
