“The Flash” actress Danielle Panabaker talked about Killer Frost and Caitlin’s unexpected romance with Tom Felton’s Julian during her panel at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) last weekend.

According to Comicbook.com, Panabaker revealed how the producers of the show described the relationship between Caitlin and her villainous alter ego, Killer Frost.

“The way it was explained to me was it’s like an addict, and Killer Frost is someone who lives inside with Caitlin.” Panabaker said. “She’s got this bad person inside her and she’s learning how to be in control with the help of the bracelets and necklace she can squish her.”

In the last episode of “The Flash,” Caitlin technically died after being seriously hurt in a battle against Abra Kadabra (David Dastmalchian). She was then resurrected as Killer Frost after Julian removed the necklace that suppressed her metahuman abilities. The episode ended with Killer Frost towering over Julian, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and H.R. (Tom Cavanagh). According to the synopsis for this week’s Season 3, episode 19, Team Flash starts to hunt Killer Frost before she can harm anyone else.

Although Panabaker was particularly tight-lipped about what will happen next with her character, she did reveal at C2E2 that the viewers will see Killer Frost and Vibe fight each other.

“Earlier in the season, maybe episode 6, Cisco has a vibe where he sees Vibe and Killer Frost fighting. You will see that again,” teased Panabaker.

When asked about Caitlin’s love life, Panabaker revealed that she’s surprised when she found out that Julian is actually her character’s new romantic interest.

“I got halfway through the season and I was like, ‘Wait, are our characters going to date?’” she recalled telling Felton. “[Given what happened to my previous love interests] that’s really bad news for you, I’m sorry.”

Julian’s care for Caitlin has started to become much more obvious when he joined Team Flash’s rescue mission on Earth-2 Gorilla City in Season 3, episode 13. “Julian has feelings for Caitlin and she’s important to him,” Helbing told TVLine of the CSI’s main reason for joining the inter-dimensional travel. “He’s kind of an old-school guy going against a woman is clearly formidable and able to take care of herself, so he’s just trying to be a gentleman. He wanted to make sure that, since she’s a woman he cares about, he would be there for her in this alternate world. Plus, he got the opportunity to go to another Earth!”

“The Flash” airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
