Determined to stop Savitar, Barry (Grant Gustin) goes to Earth-3 to seek help from Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp) in Season 3, episode 9 of “The Flash.” The CW

Barry (Grant Gustin) is going to seek help from the guardian of the Speed Force in the Christmas episode of “The Flash.”

According to the synopsis for Season 3, episode 9, titled “The Present,” Barry is so determined to stop Savitar that he decides to go to Earth-3 to get advice from Jay Garrick (John Wesley Shipp). It’s unclear how long Barry will stay on Earth-3, but based on set photos that surfaced in October, it seems that Barry will first help Jay catch Earth-3 Trickster (Mark Hamill) before going back to Earth-1.

Gustin, Shipp and Hamill were spotted filming scenes on Oct. 19 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. According to Just Jared Jr., the trio filmed a sequence in which Barry, Jay and the police stop the Trickster (Hamill) from blowing up a building. A fan who was on set at the time also shared a couple of clearer shots of Shipp and Hamill on Twitter. See her posts below:

As seen in the photos, Hamill is wearing a piece of period clothing, suggesting that the sequence is set in 1998 Earth-3.

Also in the episode, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) — who seems to have acquired his super speed from Doctor Alchemy last episode — wants to help Barry fight Savitar. Iris’ (Candice Patton) younger brother also reveals in the episode that he’s been training with H.R. (Tom Cavanagh), much to Barry’s disappointment.

Elsewhere in the episode, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) faces his first Christmas without his brother Dante (Nicholas Gonzalez), causing old wounds to resurface.

The episode is directed by Rachel Talalay from a story by Aaron and Todd Helbing and teleplay by Lauren Certo. It airs on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
