Carlos Valdes as Cisco

While all members of Team Flash want to get Barry (Grant Gustin) out of the Speed Force, not everyone will be on board with how the majority plan to bring the Scarlet Speedster back to Earth.

“I wish I could say that the team unanimously agrees that things are not the same when the [fourth] season starts, but not everybody feels that way,” “The Flash” star Carlos Valdes told Entertainment Weekly. “Most of the energy on the team is toward getting Barry back, and Cisco (Valdes) may or may not have some things up his sleeve with regards with how to make that happen, but there is a member of the team that’s not on board, and that ultimately makes the mission to get Barry back a lot more difficult.”

Although Team Flash doesn’t unanimously agree with how they should take Barry out of the Speed Force, executive producer Todd Helbing previously said that Barry’s absence has actually made the team tighter and more fearless.

“Everybody has risen to the occasion, everybody has stepped up,” the exec producer said in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly. “You have Iris (Candice Patton) now as team leader, you have Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Vibe (Valdes) going out on the town and taking out all the meta, they’re working closely with Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and CCPD. They’re pretty formidable.”

At the end of the Season 3 finale, Central City was hit by a speed storm after Jay (John Wesley Shipp) was freed from the Speed Force. As Team Flash tried to figure out what to do, the Speed Force — appearing as Barry’s mom Nora (Michelle Harrison) — suddenly appeared before them and invited Barry to fill the void. Iris and the rest of the team didn’t want Barry to go, but he realized that this was his penance for causing all of the trouble, so he joined “Nora” into the Speed Force.

Although Barry voluntarily locked himself up in the Speed Force, the team — as seen in the Season 4 trailer — is forced to find a way to get Barry back as soon as possible when what appears to be a Samuroid threatens to wreak havoc in Central City.

“The Flash” Season 4 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
