Iris is looking forward to becoming a big sister again.

During a recent press visit to the Vancouver set of “The Flash,” series star Candice Patton said that her character is thrilled about the upcoming arrival of Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Cecile’s (Danielle Nicolet) first child together.

“I think she’s super excited and happy for Joe,” Patton said (via ComicBook.com) of Iris. “It’s been a long time coming for him to have a relationship on the show. They’re definitely older and going to have a newborn and that’s a weird, strange thing. We’ll delve into more of that as the season goes on. I think Iris is really excited to be a big sister. Maybe it will inspire her to want to have children sooner rather than later too.”

Speaking of Iris having children of her own, some fans speculate that she and Barry (Grant Gustin) are going to have twins in the future, and those twins will end up becoming the Tornado Twins. As revealed in the Season 4 premiere, Barry’s time in the Speed Force temporarily broke his mind. And as a result, he obsessively drew symbols everywhere and talked in nonsensical sentences. Some of the random thoughts Barry mentioned at the time were “Nora shouldn’t be here,” “Your honor, I’m innocent,” and “needing more diapers.” While these thoughts don’t make any sense, some fans think that the phrase “needing more diapers” is a foreshadowing to the arrival of the Tornado Twins on the show.

There are a couple of versions of the Tornado Twins in the comics, but the ones most fans are familiar with are Jai and Iris West, the twin children of Wally West and his wife, Linda Park. Just like their dad, the twins are speedsters. “The Flash” has made subtle changes from the comic book canon since its debut, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Barry and Iris are the ones who end up becoming the parents of the Tornado Twins on the CW adaptation.

While it’s unclear whether the phrase “needing more diapers” is indeed a nod to potential introduction of the Tornado Twins on the series, Gustin revealed that Barry’s ramblings in the Season 4 premiere will be explained later in the season.

“[Barry] was talking all over the place [in the season premiere], and elements of that will show up throughout the season — and may already have,” Gustin told TVLine and other news outlets during the recent press visit to the show’s set. “We’ll circle back, I would imagine, at some point this season and connect all of them for you. But yeah, that was all very important, everything he said at the beginning of the year.”

“The Flash” Season 4 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
