Florence and the Machine officially announced their spring tour in the U.S. Monday. The band will kick off their tour on Apr. 14 in Santa Barbara, Calif. and end their tour on May 12 in Atlantic City, N.J, playing sixteen shows along the way.

Though Florence and the Machine has recently wowed audiences with epic performances, like the light show at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, Florence Welch told MTV that they have plans for the spring tour to have a more low-key, intimate atmosphere.

In a way, it's not going to be too big a production; we've done a lot of quite extravagant stuff, and that's been amazing, but for this tour, it's definitely going to be about showcasing the music, she told MTV. The songs are going to be the most important thing. It will be heavily based on the music ... no bells and whistles just yet, we're going to try and keep it quite pure.

Throughout the tour, Florence + the Machine will play major shows at the Coachella Music Festival on Apr. 15 and Apr. 22 as well as at the New Orleans Jazz Fest on May 3 in order to promote their latest album, Ceremonials, which was released last year.

Welch will be accompanied on tour by long-time friend, Dev Hynes, who will perform the opening show as Blood Orange.

It's going to be so fun, I can't wait. I used to be his backing singer in Lightspeed Champion, he took me on tour with him for one date, in Manchester [England]. He was one of the first members of Florence and the Machine, he used to play guitar with me at all my first gigs, Welch told MTV.

Although Ceremonials was released last year, Florence + the Machine has not yet been on tour to promote the album.

The deluxe album package released by the band includes two discs. The first disc presents the band's new album Ceremonials while the second disc includes previously unreleased material, demos and acoustic tracks. To buy the album, see the Florence and the Machine Web site.
