Following a Feb. 2 recall over incorrectly labeled payload capacities on select 2020 F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks, Ford (F) is now recalling some F-Series Super Duty vehicles because the tire and wheel assemblies may fall off.

According to Ford, in select 2021 F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks equipped with dual rear wheels, the front-wheel hub extenders may not have been properly tightened by the supplier, which could cause the tire and wheel assembly to detach from the front axle.

Ford said this condition could increase the risk of a crash and cause a road hazard if the tire and wheel assembly came off while driving the truck.

The recall affects 19,626 trucks in North America.

Ford will begin notifying affected Super Duty truck owners about the recall this week

Impacted Super Duty truck owners are being advised by Ford not to drive their vehicle until it can be verified that the front wheel hub extender nuts are tightened to specification by contacting a Ford dealer to complete the service at their location, or by having the truck towed to a Ford dealership, or by following the provided instructions in the recall notice.

The automaker said it is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to the recall.

Shares of Ford were trading at $14.94 as of 12:56 p.m. ET on Monday, down 34 cents, or 2.19%.
