A Ford hybrid car drove 1,445.4 miles with a single tank of gas in a 69-hour continous drive.

The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid was originally expected to reach 1,000 miles when a team of seven drivers started the journey on April 25. But it ended almost three days later.

Its all over!!! The Fusion Hybrid did 1,445.7 miles on ONE tank of gas! the group said in a posting in Twitter yesterday. What a team - what a car!! the posting added.

The average fuel efficiency was of 81.5 miles per galon, according to the team which included Nascar driver Carl Edwards, Wayne Gerdes and several Ford Motor Company engineers. The team twittered their progress.
