Former Girlfriend Of Wisconsin Gunman Held On Weapon Charge

Misty Cook, a 31-year-old nursing student who worked as a waitress at a coffee shop, is said to, allegedly, have ties with white supremacist organizations. Her arrest follows investigations into the shooting at the Sikh temple Sunday that left six people dead on the spot, Los Angeles Times reported.

Page, 40, who was shot dead by police on the scene, lived with Cook and had moved to a separate residence before the shootings. Page, who was also a U.S. Army veteran, wounded four people during the shooting incident including a police officer.

Cook was arrested on the grounds of being a felon in possession of an unauthorized weapon. Earlier, in 2002, Cook was charged for fleeing and eluding a traffic officer. Criminal charges are likely to be pressed by the Milwaukee County district attorney, added the Los Angeles Times.

ABC News Network reported that despite the absence of any indications that Cook was involved in the attack, there was enough evidence to prove that she was involved with white supremacist groups like her boyfriend.

Apparently, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) that monitors hate groups possessed information on both Page and Cook in its files dating back several years.

"She was part of Volksfront. She had a longtime affiliation with that group. She attended their meetings, and she was an active member," Jenna Benn, Assistant Director, ADL, told Los Angeles Times.

Benn confirmed that Cook was also active in Crew 38, the women's arm of another neo-Nazi group with which Page was involved, the Hammerskin Nation, and wrote postings for the their website.

"We've been monitoring him for the last seven years; we've been tracking his whereabouts, and he definitely followed her to the Milwaukee area," Benn added.

Terry Page, an apartment resident who lived downstairs from Cook said he found the couple pretty quiet, only once playing loud rock music. Terry Page, who is not related to Wade Page, said the latter worked a graveyard shift like him and the two often met at the driveway on their way to work, stated Los Angeles Times.
