NSA leaker Edward Snowden says he didn't provide any information from the agency to officials in Russia or China during his transit through those countries on his quest for asylum, the journalist who broke the story said Wednesday.

Glenn Greenwald of The Guardian, the British newspaper, said he spoke with Snowden over the weekend, and as recently as Tuesday, and that the leaker denied claims that he passed classified information to Russia or China.

Greenwald said Snowden also denied claims that either government had succeeded in "draining the contents of his laptops." "I never gave any information to either government, and they never took anything from my laptops," Snowden said, according to Greenwald.

Snowden, 30, is now a fugitive wanted by the U.S. and he remains in Russia while mulling his next step in a quest for asylum.
