“The Fosters” Season 4, episode 13 saw Callie (Maia Mitchell) getting herself into more trouble.

In “Cruel and Unusual,” Callie has to stay in juvie for a much longer time than she initially expected. While there, she gets troubled by a man named Joey who wants to make her life a living hell. Joey wants Callie to stay in juvie for as long as possible, and that’s why he lied about her attacking him. This results in Callie being sent to solitary confinement.

While Callie is completing her stint in juvie, her dad, Robert (Kerr Smith), finds out what she’s been up to. He is upset that Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) did not tell him sooner, but he is still willing to do everything he can to help get Callie out of juvie. Robert also visits Callie, bringing with him a letter from AJ (Tom Williamson) that the latter wants him to pass on to her.

Callie asks her dad for advice about what she should do with the options that she’s been given. The first option is for her to take the plea deal and stay in juvie until she’s 18 years old. The other option is for her to not take the plea deal and air her side of the story, but this comes with the risk that she could end up in prison for five years. Stef and Lena wants Callie to take the plea deal, but Robert wants her to go for the other option.

In the end, Callie decides to go with Robert’s suggestion of not taking the plea deal. At the hearing, things are not in favor of the lead character. She will be tried as an adult, but Robert was able to temporarily bail her out.
