Three police officers are believed to have been stabbed and another also injured after being attacked by a man during an incident in north London, Scotland Yard said Saturday.

Police said it occurred after they were called to a disturbance on the main road in Kingsbury shortly before 9 a.m. when officers attempted to speak to a man.

He subsequently assaulted him. Four officers were injured during the incident and have been taken to hospital, a police spokesman said. Three of them are believed to have been stabbed and the man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Witnesses told media the man had been shouting at the police before running into a butcher's shop where he got a knife.
