Fox has officially ordered episodes of its newest singing reality TV competition, “The Four.”

According to TV Line, “The Four” is a singing competition inspired by Israel’s “The Final Four.” The series will immediately pick its top four finalists, who may be dethroned the following week if a new contestant performs better. Fox’s reality TV chief Rob Wade recently teased the new competition series and dubbed it as “‘Game of Thrones’ with better singing and less nudity.”

Fox also released a full description of “The Four,” which reveals that there will be a panel of music industry experts who will select the first four contenders in the pilot episode. Each week, the four will be challenged by new contestants individually and may be eliminated if the newbies outperform them. Contestants may join “The Four” by submitting an audition video in the particular week that they want to be part of the show.

“America will have a chance to decide who is brought onto the show by voting on the available streamed auditions and influencing which challengers will take on ‘The Four’ and shake up the competition. If the existing four singers outperform their challengers, then they survive to sing another week, until the end of the season, when the singers have safely secured their spots on stage and face off against each other, resulting in one being named the winner,” the synopsis read.

Meanwhile, word about Fox’s new singing competition first made headlines last month. At the time, TV Line reported that Fox is creating a show that will compete with ABC’s upcoming “American Idol” reboot and NBC’s “The Voice.” Fox used to be the home of “American Idol,” but the network decided to cancel the show after 15 seasons.

In May, Fox CEO Dana Walden defended their decision to take “American Idol” off their roster. “It feels bad knowing it’s coming back on another network… It felt to us, after taking meetings with production company Fremantle, like it would be extremely fraudulent to bring the show back quickly,” she said.

“The Four” and “American Idol” are set to premiere next year.
