Switzerland has agreed to share banking information upon request from France's tax authorities as of January 2010, the French Economy Ministry said in a statement after signing a deal on Thursday.

The agreement amends an existing tax accord from 1966.

The information exchange clause inserted into the convention allows the French tax administration to obtain from the Swiss authorities, as of January 1, 2010, information, notably banking, regardless of the type of tax, of the people and of the information targeted by the request, the ministry said.
