The filming for “Outlander” Season 2 is currently underway and, according to executive producer Ron Moore, the team is “off to a good start.” Moore shared details about the next season on his official Twitter account. Meanwhile, cast members Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe revealed their favorite scenes from the first season.

The next season of the popular Starz network series will take the viewers to France. Moore spoke about what the fans can expect to see in the future episodes in a Twitter interaction with the fans. The executive producer revealed that the new sets and the costumes are “amazing” and that the cast has “settled into the new story.”

One character returning next season is Frank Randall, played by Tobias Menzies. Although future episodes will focus on Claire and Jamie (played by Balfe and Heughan, respectively), Moore said that “there’s always time for Frank” and described him as one of his favorite characters.

“I think Frank helps define Claire and that in turn helps define [Jamie and Claire’s] relationship,” Moore said in a tweet. “Outlander” Season 2 is based on the book “Dragonfly in Amber” by Diana Gabaldon. Moore pointed out that Claire’s relationship with Frank may be a “key relationship” in the book. The producer also revealed that Claire has already told Jamie all about her first husband.

Talking about some of the challenges in the next season, Moore explained that the book is “more complicated to adapt” as the plot is more “political” and the story will be set in Paris. The cast and crew may not be traveling to France to film the scenes and the list of filming locations the execute producer revealed are Scotland, South of England and Prague.

There is still no official announcement about the premiere date for “Outlander” Season 2. When asked for an estimate, Moore said that the premiere episode will air sometime in the first half of 2016.
