From the Genesis to the Equus, Hyundai has been leaping and bounding forward in its quality, design and marketing, and now its next generation of SUVs and crossovers is getting ready to hit the show floor at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show as part of its preparation for a very busy 2010. The first up is the 2010 Tucson, or ix35 as Hyundai is calling it across the pond.

Teased in the photo and renderings here, the next Tucson shows a fresh face and a somewhat crisper design language than the rounded and smooth current-generation Tucson.

Unlike the European-spec model in the teaser photo, the American vehicles aren't expected to get the ix35 badge or the diesel powertrain. Instead the next Tucson will keep its place-name and gasoline-only powertrain for the U.S., though a turbocharged four-cylinder could replace the current model's optional six-cylinder mill, helping to keep pace with performance while improving efficiency.

A revised version of the Santa Fe will also be on display alongside the Tucson when the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show gets under way on September 15.
