RTTNews - French consumer spending in manufactured goods rose 0.7% month-on-month in April, following a downwardly revised 0.6% increase in March, statistical office INSEE said Tuesday. Meanwhile, economists had forecast a 0.3% contraction. The statistical office revised March's figure from 1.1% growth reported initially.

In April, expenditure in durables rose 2.1% after a 0.6% fall in March. It was lead both by car purchases and expenditure in equipment goods, which rose 3.7% and 0.8%, respectively.

On annual basis, consumer spending rose 0.6%.
