Khloe Kardashian is no stranger to criticism, so her ex, French Montana, thinks that the idea that the so-called Kardashian curse was the one to blame for the poor performance of her boyfriend Tristan Thompson during the NBA finals didn’t cause much trouble to the reality star.

“[Khloe is] used to pressure. I mean, she’s definitely a dope lady, you know?” Montana told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at Sunday night’s BET Awards. “Like for me, what I know about [her], I don’t think it would bother her.”

Montana added that he thought Kardashian would deal with the criticism “like a champ.” “I mean, people always think they’re gonna say stuff about you, you know. But I think, well, she knows how to handle it,” said the recording artist.

Montana and Kardashian split in September 2014 after eight months of dating. They later reconciled but broke up again in December that year. During the Dec. 28, 2014 episode of “Kourtney & Khloe Take the Hamptons,” Kardashian admitted to her sister Khloe and Scott Disick that she rushed into the romance with Montana a little quickly after her split from estranged husband Lamar Odom.

“It’s nothing against French. I just think I don’t want a boyfriend,” she said in the episode. “I jumped into something because I was just, like, lonely and destructive. But now I’m like, I just want to be alone.”

Since their break-up, Montana and Kardashian have remained on good terms with one another. “We’re great friends. I think we’re going to be friends forever,” the “Pop That” rapper told E! News at the 2016 Grammys.

While Kardashian didn’t seem to be affected by the NBA Finals criticism, ABC commentator Jeff Van Gundy still defended the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star against those claiming that Thompson’s performance during the game was a result of the Kardashian curse.

“I’ve noticed a lot in this series, the debate about why Tristan Thompson has not played well, and he hasn’t played well. But the debate about whether or not his significant other, Khloe Kardashian, and the Kardashian curse, is the reason, to me, is downright low rent,” Van Gundy said.

“My thing is this, when LeBron James struggled in 2011, in those finals, did we say it was his significant other that caused him to not succeed, or last year, Steph Curry, Steph Curry’s wife, when he didn’t play up to standard? No, this Kardashian shaming, because she’s an easy target,” he continued. “I don’t know her or her family, but I do know this. She deserves an apology for anyone that participated in that type of debate.”
