A fresh earthquake rattled Japan exactly one month after the March 11 earthquake and the massive tsunami which heralded an unprecedented nuclear crisis in the country.

The new quake, which had a magnitude of 7.1 struck the eastern parts of the country, according to early reports. The epicenter of the fresh tremor was 94 km from Fukushima, at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to early reports from the United States Geological Survey.

Japan's meteorological agency has issued a warning for 3-foot tsunami, according to television reports.
