“Frozen 2” reportedly will show a new side of Elsa. “Frozen” co-director Chris Buck, who is currently working on the sequel, said in his interview with Fandango Elsa will display her fun side.

"[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she's just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again," Buck said. "That's what was really good about the short [Frozen Fever] -- we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality ... you will see in the next one,” he said.

In “Frozen” Elsa is shown coming to terms with her icy powers. She traps the kingdom in ice in the eternal winter and also distances herself from her sister, Anna, as she fears hurting her with her powers. At the end of the film, Elsa is shown reconciling with her sister. She also understands the key to controlling her powers is love.

It is not known how Elsa’s character will progress in “Frozen 2.” According to Cinema Blend, sister bonding can be shown in film but nothing is yet confirmed.

Buck also hinted in his interview Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff’s characters will progress in the sequel.

“Anna, Kristoff, Elsa, Olaf -- they're all parts of our [Buck and Jennifer Lee] personality, so it's fun to play with these characters again and sort of see where we can go next with them. Just like any characters that you love, to see them grow and to see what happens next,” he said.

The release date of the film is yet to be announced. Peter Del Vecho for Walt Disney Animation Studios will produce the film. “Frozen” was a major box office success and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The film made 1.274 billion at the box office and was followed by a short sequel “Frozen Fever” that premiered March 13.
