LONDON, April 3 - Britain's blue-chip index was fractionally higher in early deals on Tuesday as gains among energy and defensive shares offset some profit taking on miners.

London's FTSE 100 <.FTSE> rose 0.1 percent to 5,879.08 by 08:06 British time, after rising 106.44 points on Monday to record its biggest daily rise in two months.
