Jason Statham has confirmed he'll appear in “Fast & Furious 8.” The actor recently told Access Hollywood about reprising his role as Deckard Shaw.

“We’re already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I’m a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another,” Statham said.

He also spoke about the success of “Furious 7.” Reportedly, the franchise has a huge fan base and the audience really relates to the characters, as they have “followed them for years.” For Statham, this is one of the reasons why “Furious 7” has become a huge hit.

Meanwhile, It has yet to be revealed how his character will factor in the plot of “Fast & Furious 8.” He was the primary antagonist in “Furious 7,” seeking to avenge his younger brother Owen Shaw’s defeat at the hands of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his gang. At the end of the film he was taken into custody in a secret CIA prison by Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson).

“Fast & Furious 8” reportedly will be set in New York. Apart from Statham, Kurt Russell will have a significant role, as Diesel confirmed during an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

“I always think of these films multiple pictures in advance. Kurt Russell came in for this movie but we really hired him for a story that follows this, that takes place in New York," he said. Russell plays Mr. Nobody, a government agent and covert operative. On the request of Hobbs he helps Toretto stop Shaw in exchange for protecting a computer program from a mercenary.

Johnson is also set to return as Hobbs. The film is slated to arrive in theaters April 14, 2017. The director and other cast members are not known.
