U.S. stock index futures rose more than 1 percent on Thursday after Wal-Mart Stores Inc reported second quarter results that topped Wall Street's expectations.

* Wal-Mart shares rose more than 1 percent in premarket trade to $51.25.

* S&P 500 futures were up 12.20 points, or 1.22 percent, and above fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration on the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures was up 106 points, or 1.14 percent, and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 17.75 points or 1.1 percent.
