Samsung’s new flagships, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus were announced Wednesday and will hit the market in late- April. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will compete with many other premium devices on the market, including the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Google’s 2016 flagships are a new product line for the tech giant. They are intended to work with Google’s Daydream virtual reality protocol and its Daydream headset. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will likely also work with Daydream; however, Samsung has not spoken about the compatibility.

Samsung’s new devices showcase new features such as the Bixby AI assistant, iris scanning and facial recognition biometrics and a virtual home button replacing a physical key, which expands the device’s display to an 18:9:5 aspect ratio. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are intended to work well with video and with Samsung’s own VR headset, Gear VR.
