Yes, Game of Thrones Season 2 is almost upon us, at long last, and like any self-respecting fan -- Thronie, if you're truly serious -- you've already rewatched all 10 hourlong episodes of Season 1, perhaps in a single day, with the blinds drawn in your dungeon of a living room, and hopefully while wearing a tunic embroidered with your favorite house's sigil.

But have you seen HBO's Season 1 recap special?

No, it's not just a bunch of clips thrown together in whirlwind fashion to bring you up to speed. Instead, it goes behind the scenes with the show's creators and cast members to provide illuminating insight into the events of Season 1, what to expect in Season 2 (premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT), and the series as a whole.

I think from the first time Dan [co-creator D.B. Weiss] and I read George Martin's books, we knew he had taken fantasy to a different place than it had been before and to a more realistic place, said co-creator David Benioff, who, like Weiss, serves the series as a writer and executive producer. The characters don't feel like they're locked in the eternal struggle of good and evil; they feel like real people who happen to live in a world that's not our world, a world where magic still exists.

It's much more adult and grounded and psychologically complex, said Weiss.

The 20-minute special also features interviews with cast members Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen).
