Did Maisie Williams hint at longer episodes for Season 7 of “Game of Thrones”? HBO

The cast and crew of “Game of Thrones” is hard at work filming Season 7 and have been for several months. Until recently, fans wondered how it was possible that the season — which is only seven episodes long — was taking so long to shoot. It has since been revealed by the stars that the upcoming season, while shorter in number of episodes, will have just as much content as those prior.

In a Facebook Live interview, star Maisie Williams — known for playing Arya Stark — was asked about the length of Season 7. She confirmed that there would be no more than seven episodes, but assured fans that they would be action-packed. The 19-year-old hinted that the episodes in the upcoming season may be slightly longer than in previous, teasing an equal amount of storylines.

“We only have seven episodes this time,” she said (via NME). “But we’re shooting for just as long, so there’s just as much content. And you guys will not be disappointed.”

This sentiment was echoed in an earlier interview with Iain Glen, who plays Jorah Mormont. The actor sat down with Radio Times to discuss Season 7 of “Game of Thrones,” revealing exactly how much time fans had left in the Seven Kingdoms. Glen blamed any delays on the size and scale of both sets and storylines.

“I think the scale and size of the set pieces, the world that is being created it’s just getting more and more extraordinary and they feel they need that time to shoot seven hours as opposed to ten,” Glen said.

So what exactly is set to take place in Season 7 that’s backing up production? A number of spoilers have been released about the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” teasing major battles, an ambush on one of the most powerful families in the seven kingdoms, the arrival of winter and more.

Here’s what we know so far:

Conor McGregor Will Join The Cast In A Supporting Role:

The UFC fighter is believed to have been cast as a member of Euron Greyjoy’s (Pilou Asbæk) crew. Watchers on the Wall theorizes that he’ll be playing a pirate. The role is thought to be minor.

Sansa Will Find Her Voice — But It May Cause A Rift Among The Cast:

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sophie Turner teased some trouble ahead for her character. For the first time since Season 1, Sansa will have some kind of power. Turner said that initially, the new role will suit her character. Her new position of power will go to her head in time.

“She’s seemingly in control for the first time — and it really suits her,” Turner said. “She’s kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she’s also becoming more insecure, because there are threats to the power that she holds.”

Arya, Sansa And Jon Snow (Kit Harington) Will Reunite:

The Stark siblings have spent a majority of Seasons 1 through 6 of “Game of Thrones” apart. They’ll finally reunite in Season 7, though it’s not clear at what point or what their reunion means for the direction of the show. A teaser for the upcoming season, released during a November episode of “Westworld,” gave little away about what’s to come when “Game of Thrones” returns, but did potentially reveal some news about the Starks.

Sansa is shown standing before a weirwood tree in Winterfell. The look on her face suggests she’s in a state of shock and awe, though fans will have to wait to find out what it is she’s looking out at. Arya is shown sporting a similar expression on her face sitting atop a horse in all black. The shot is taken from below, giving no background for fans. Jon is shown mid-conversation with a woman. There has been some speculation that it’s Sansa he’s talking to, though it is not clear from the photo.

Sansa Will Not Be Pregnant With Ramsay’s (Iwan Rheon) Baby:

Fans rejoiced in Season 6 when “Game of Thrones” villain Ramsay Bolton was captured and killed following a bloody encounter with Jon and Sansa’s army. In his final moments, however, Ramsay made a comment that left fans of the show uncertain about a few things, namely whether he and Sansa were expecting a child together.

Watchers on the Wall was able to confirm that Sansa will not be pregnant in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones. She will instead be spending much of her time acting as lady of Winterfell while Jon is out meeting with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and trying to ward off winter.

The Lannisters Will Come Under Attack:

The Lannisters have been stirring up drama in the Seven Kingdoms since “Game of Thrones” premiered in 2012. There is hope for retribution, however. Photos from a set in Barrueco de Arriba, Spain, have lead Thronies to believe a major ambush will be launched on the Lannisters from Daenerys’ army. In November, El Periodica Extremadura published the pictures, speculating that the Dothraki people will sneak up and attack caravans seen traveling from Highgarden.

Los Siete Reinos, a Spanish-language spoiler site, confirmed that Jamie (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Bronn (Jerome Flynn) were spotted on the same set. It is unclear whether Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) will be joining them.

The Bloodiest Battle In “Game Of Thrones” History Will Take Place:

Sevilla, Spain, is just one of many cities around the world that the “Game of Thrones” cast and crew have been spotted filming in as of late. This city in particular is thought to have played host to one of the most important scenes filmed for Season 7. it was reported in October that production had decided to utilize the Italica Ruins, though it was not clear what exactly they would be used for.

This revelation gave way to a number of theories. Both Watchers on the Wall and Vanity Fair speculated that the ruins would be used to represent the Dragonpit — a fighting arena. The location is believed to be the location at which the bloodiest battle in “Game of Thrones” history will take place.

Watchers on the Wall reported that Daenerys, Jon, Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham), Cersei, Jamie, Ser Gregor Glegane (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), Euron and more will face off at the site in the final scene for Season 7.
